The climate of the Dominican Republic is tropical warm, which has a fairly stable temperature throughout the seasons, which ranges between 25 and 35 degrees. The highest temperatures are reached in summer between the months of July and August, while from November to January they change a little, decreasing to 18 degrees, in high altitude regions, and 24 degrees in the rest of the country.
It must be taken into account that, since it is a warm tropical climate, the rains are abundant. The rainy season coincides with summer, since two rainy seasons are generally established: from April to June and from September to November.
In the Dominican Republic the plugs are A / B, so you will need an adapter. In general, the electricity is 120V.
The Dominican Republic can be considered a relatively safe country. It is advisable to follow basic rules of prudence such as not walking through isolated and dark areas, not using public transport services that are not perfectly identified, taking precautions when using ATMs installed outside banking entities, not carrying large amounts of money in cash, do not make ostentation, etc.
It is not common to leave tips, since in almost all the services already they load a 10%, with the exception of the bellboys, the guides and other professionals who always will wait an extra for their work.
CLASSES AND DANCE SHOES
Bring comfortable and cool clothes for your classes, keep in mind that many dance schools will not have air conditioning, so bring clothes to change later if you tend to sweat a lot, a towel and a bottle of water.
Salsa shoes are not necessary, if you want to bring them to take class there is no problem, but if you do not bring them, nothing happens either.
In the nightclubs of Dominican people, you do not usually see people with dance shoes, most of them cannot afford it. Maybe you see some tourist that uses them, but it is not usual. In addition, the floor is often not the most recommended, so you would destroy your shoes, but we can tell you, depending on the place we leave, in case you want to take them.
